This course covers the basic skill sets of hockey - Skating, Shooting and Team/Positional play. Skills are built and refined using traditional, proven drills and methods, but even practice should be fun! At the beginning, individual skills will be the primary focus. As the course progresses, focus will shift to positional understanding and team play.
This Academy course is for beginner to intermediate players - but everyone can benefit from hard skating and work on the basics.

II/Intermediate, '07 |

As usual, this course covers the basic skill
sets of hockey - Skating, Shooting and Team/Positional play.
Challenging drills will hone Basics I/II skills, and the goal is to
teach 'Brain Hockey.' At the beginning, individual skills will
be the primary focus. The course will quickly shift focus to
positional understanding, situational practice and team play.
This Academy course is for Developing
and Intermediate players - everyone can always benefit from hard
skating and basics.

| Class: Sunday Spectacular 4: Speed and Puck Control |

In an effort to make sure these practices fill up we’ve outlined three Sunday afternoon clinics - but the dates have been left open. The date for each will not be finalized until there are 16 confirmed skaters. If you sign up, we’ll plan for and expect you to be there (or give us a reasonable amount of notice for cancellations.)
Just what the title says. About half of this clinic will consist of speed work using stride efficiency and power building exercises that are designed to maximize your top speed. The other half will work on various aspects of puck control, from basic stick handling to partner and cone work

Quickness, hard cornering, lateral movement, and balance skills will get you where you need to be faster. Then we’ll work on how to give and receive a pass when you get there – from basic static passes to give and go and passing/receiving on the move.

We’ll start with some good old fashioned shooting practice – Wrist shots, Snap shots and one Timers from both a standstill and moving. Then we’ll look at setting up offensive zone systems like Positional, Triangle and overloading the slot.
